Getting fit is an inside job
So the hard thing about hard things is showing up. Our minds come up with all sorts of clever reasons why we can’t do what we need to do.
All those things are lies. All of those things are excuses. I promise you.
It doesn’t need to be perfect. Just go through the motions.
What we’re doing is we’re building a habit one day at a time, one moment at a time, one rep at a time.
All those stories that your mind tells you are trying to distract you. They’re trying to keep you from exercising your purpose. Don’t let that happen.
We have a various number of reasons why we have the hang ups that we have. The good news is is that as you start to master this aspect of yourself it bleeds over into other areas of your life. Working out and getting fit isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about understanding your own mind and the triggers and things that cause you to stray off of your purpose.
It’s about noticing your mind is focused on what you’re giving up, as opposed to what you’re going to gain.
If you can create a clearer picture in your head of how you’re going to look how you’re going to feel, the confidence that you’ll carry. And all of the other benefits that come with that who cares about not eating pizza? But, our minds focus on what we’re missing out on.
They focus on what we’re going to lose the pasta, the beer, whatever your thing is, that’s what the mind focuses on.
It also makes a very dramatic situation out of things and says You never get to have those things again. So we began a diet, all protein, no carbs, all carbs, no fat, whatever.
We try to beat the mind into submission and it dosen’t work and the reason that it doesn’t work is because what we need is a paradigm shift. The paradigm shift is not what I’m missing out on, not what I’m losing, but what I’m gaining .all those foods that you like and things that you enjoy doing.
There are substitutions and options available that you will enjoy just as much if not more Than their unhealthy alternatives.. For example, you like chicken wings ,cool. Do air fried chicken wings it’s delicious. And it’s healthy for you.
If you like french fries, excellent. Do sweet potatoes in coconut oil. If you like chocolate who says you can’t have chocolate?
Now if you can’t control your intake of chocolate, you can’t have chocolate. So this gives us the opportunity to work on discipline. If we can’t have a little bit and we have to have the whole thing we have to put that down for a minute.
That gives us the opportunity to look at our addictive qualities and tendencies. Those addictive qualities and tendencies make it harder for us to enjoy life the way we want to. If we can’t go to a birthday party without eating the cake, we don’t get to go to the birthday party. So we want to look at this not as a sacrifice but as a gaining of discipline and effectiveness and abundance. in all the areas in your life.
